The chaos began at the Winter Solstice dinner eight years ago. The father lost his temper, the son, not able to forgive his father, ran away from home. Eight years have passed, and the family's relationship is still cold and distant. A cousin returns to Hong Kong from England and hopes to gather everyone for a Winter Solstice dinner. The long-awaited gathering prompted everyone to rethink their relationships with family members. Some choose to leave, some are back. When things are about to fall apart, it might as well be an opportunity to mend connections.

The Winter Solstice has been for the Chinese an important family occasion; however, will this time-honoured tradition become obsolete? The children head back to their family home in the country to see their elderly mother. All seems well on the surface, but each faces their own crisis and difficulty: The eldest brother struggles to raise several kids; the well off second sister plans to leave Hong Kong; estranged from her husband, the younger sister keeps up appearances; and the youngest brother commits to the difficult career as a farmer. The cheerful, animated conversation at the dinner table is overshadowed by simmering anxieties.

In the fifth film in the series, in 1910, the Jones family attends a meeting of the Theosophy movement in Benares, India. There young Indy befriends a young boy named Jiddu Krishnamurti who is presented by the society to be the next world teacher and possible messiah. Traveling on to China, mother Jones takes Miss Seymour and Indy on a sightseeing trip while father meets with Chinese translator Yen Fu. Indy becomes ill during a rain storm and the travelers seek shelter with a poor Chinese family. Despite the misgivings of his mother, a local doctor is allowed to treat the boy with acupuncture.

When a very successful CEO is fired for refusing to take bribes from his recently appointed corrupt boss, he finds himself homeless, as well as jobless, and finds himself reduced to begging on the streets in order to survive. But upon meeting a beautiful, young woman, his lust for life returns, inspiring him to go out and regain all that was once his, with revenge on his former employer at the top of his list

The "walk in" of the title refers to one person allowing another's soul to take possession of his body at the time of death.

Against the backdrop of that locale, his young sister has recently befriended a group of adolescents who visit the isle perennially - every summer - and who share their individual stories with her. One tale at a time, she begins to experience life vicariously through the others' recollections.

Lung comes from China to Hong Kong in search of a new life and fortune. He is employed as a security officer by Lee at a night club that he runs. When Lee’s partner dies, his business is endangered by his partner’s son, Soufu. As retribution, Lee’s daughter May, hurts Soufu. Soufu’s anger gets the best of him, and he murders Lee. May must now make the next move in this deadly game of chess, and asks Lung to help her avenge Lee’s death. Lung hesitantly agrees, and the hunt is on to give Soufu exactly what he deserves!

He is sent by the gods to do battle with the monkey King who is up to more magical mischief than is good for him.
