Birth : 1992-01-01, Québec City, Québec, Canada

History

Born in Quebec City in 1992, Safia Nolin showed an interest for music at a very young age: at two, she improvised unplugged concerts with her small plastic guitar around her building's pool to her neighbours’ delight. At 17, wanting to achieve her dream of becoming a musician, Safia started learning how to play guitar on her own with a used one offered by her big brother. In 2012, she concocted her first original song, Igloo, inspired by her neighbourhood, Limoilou, for which Safia won the SOCAN Best Song Award during her participation at the 44th edition of the Festival International de la Chanson de Granby. Her debut album Limoilou was released on February 19th, 2015. With these 13 folk-inspired songs, Safia won over fans and critics alike.

Their compelling glance at the past is, of course, a cry that continues to echo in the present day. While the voices have been silenced, revolt still brews. All it takes is a spark...
