The film recreates the Roosevelt-Rondon Scientific Expedition (1913-1914), commanded by the Brazilian colonel Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon and former US president Theodore Roosevelt. Together, they crossed the Pantanal and Amazon Rainforest to explore the mysterious Doubt River.
Pescador
On the porch of a farm, a woman tells stories while cutting and sewing scraps of cloth, creating images that form a towel. There are four stories of humor and magic. The fisherman's wedding with Iara, a mermaid from the rivers. The altar boy of a church that sees the procession of souls. The encounter between a Santa Claus in a store and a street boy and the adventures of Zé Burraldo, a naive guy who always lets himself be carried away by others.
Slowly we recognize traces of a couple's history. Joana, living isolated in an apartment between books and mysteries searching for an "ideal world" and Jota living on the streets searching for a confrontation with the real and trying to give back the final word to the "other"..
Sebastião
Sebastian, a novice in a post-apocalyptic Brazilian monastery, prepares to be ordained while struggling with intense doubts. Before priesthood, he must confess his greatest secrets: his rape as a child and the passion he has for another monk. He turns to penance and martyrdom to relieve his guilt.
