A young woman urgently seeks to navigate the maze of contemporary Taipei and find a future. She hopes that her boyfriend Lung is the key to the future, but Lung is stuck in a past that combines baseball and traditional loyalty that leads him to squander his nest egg bailing her father out of financial trouble.
Tenn Kong-Hui is a private eye. Kong-Hui’s ex-lover, Tai-Giok is a personal assistant to a steel company’s chairman. By spying on Tai-Giok, KongHui discovers many dirty secrets of the people who work at the steel company and decides to blackmail each one of them. When Kong-Hui is found dead in his apartment one day, the police detective has identified five suspects. However, as the detective digs further into their stories, he finds that all of them have alibis. Just when the investigation seems to hit a dead end, a sixth suspect suddenly emerges…

During World War Two, two Japanese army soldiers, Fan from Macau and Zheng from Taiwan, observe the Japanese hiding treasure in the mountains of Malaya. They make a treasure map and keep half each. Later, Zheng’s brother finds out Fan has died. The film opens when Zheng’s brother goes to Macau to buy the other half of the map from his friend’s descendants, having sent his niece Shufen (Liu Qing) and son (Ba Ke) to wait for him in Malaya with their half. But after a series of double- crossings and betrayals, Shufen and the boy set off to search for the treasure alone, with the Macau triads and the police in hot pursuit. At their moment of greatest danger in the jungle, the Taiwanese Tarzan (Gao Ming) swings onto the scene to save them.

The film takes place after the July 7th Incident. A mysterious man in black appears in Shanghai under the Japanese rule. He assassinates the commander and senior generals of the Japanese Army Corps as well as the traitor Hu Fei. The Japanese female spy Yoshiko Kawashima was unable to determine who the mysterious man in black was. In order to reveal the identity of him, she pretended to be the No. 7 intelligence agent.
