The film tells not only about this disaster and its causes, but also about how citizens of different countries tried to help the hungry.

When he arrives in Saint Petersburg, at the age of 29, Marius Petipa is just an obscure dancer who fled western Europe to escape his debts. After a chance meeting with a girl, a nameless boy becomes her lover and guardian angel. Each of our protagonists has his challenges and problems and family story lines. Each of them makes his mean's choice and pay for it. Their stories develop in front of our eyes.

To understand what is happening in modern Russia, it is not enough to go out and look around, or read news bulletins. If you want to get insight, the best way is to radically change the angle of view and look at everything, for example, with the eyes ... of a horse that serves in the operational regiment in the center of the capital.

From the position of ordinary citizens they are no more than perverts with mental deviations. And still, who are they? How do they survive in a world that they call ìvanillaî? And why do they use these strange nicknames and carefully chosen, ominous attributes: flogging scourges or latex suits? What do they see in their hobby that we do not see ñ and never shall see, if we limit ourselves by a documentary approach?

This is a kind of memory of memories. The trip is enclosed in three conditional spaces: abandoned in an empty field - a hostel for internally displaced persons who exist outside the present and future, with a scattered, burned past. Cold twilight Moscow with a Chechen guy wandering along its streets, vocalist of the Dead Dolphins band, Arthur, who recalls his once beloved city, but does not want to return and see the place where his house used to be. Exhausted, abandoned by the souls that once inhabited it, the city of Grozny, to which, for the first time after the war, a Russian girl comes to see her native home, return to her childhood and "die in it", saying goodbye to him forever for all those who lost their home and homeland.
