Mirta is doing her best to navigate the social and economic crisis pummeling Argentina on the eve of the 21st century, after all, she's got an unemployed husband, three stressed-out kids, and a drug addict father-in-law to look after. As the crisis promises to boot the family from the middle class, Mirta decides to open a pizzeria that will serve slices with lots of laughs and extra drama.

In a remote camp in the Carlota mountains, a renowned paleontologist, guards the most important finding of her scientific career: the fossil remains of a hippogriff, a mythical animal half bird half lion of which there is no certainty of its existence. The arrival of Constanza, a biologist sent to supervise the works of Carlota, and Freddy, an old rival with dark intentions, force Carlota to face a powerful enemy that threatens to destroy the territory and its natural resources.

The story also develops during a family trip to the grandmother’s hometown.

A surgeon from Buenos Aires, wearied by personal problems and the endless cycle of work, leaves for a week's skiing vacation in the south. Instead, on impulse, he follows a young hitchhiker to a small fishing village, Devil's Point, in the north, on the coast of Uruguay. He makes fleeting acquaintance with some of the villagers, and learns that "the only thing to do in winter is to wait for summer".
