Chuck Margiotta joined the Fire Department of New York in 1981. He served 15 years with Ladder Company 40 in Harlem, and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1996. At the time of his death in the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center collapse, he was assigned to the 22nd Battalion in Staten Island.
