Katherine Thompson Nelson is a songwriter, singer, and actress. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.. Nelson is one of eight children. She began singing at the age of three and told her mother that someday she would have a song on the radio. She moved from her native southern California to Utah after high school.
