Jorge Villafañez is a rotund, veteran private detective living alone in a high-rise apartment in Buenos Aires. Discreet and meticulous, he has a knack of making people open up in conversations. But when a new assignment puts him on the trail of Elvira, an experimental choreographer, the distance between the observer and the observed begins to collapse as Jorge descends into the rising waters of the Delta del Río de la Plata.

A sunny morning in Buenos Aires. All seems quiet, but then an odd race begins: a variety of people are after a backpack. A little army of seekers surprises us at every corner. Suddenly, a lonely bureaucrat (Mapache) is involved in this adventure, and new, mysterious and unknown people start to populate his life, all running around the popular Argentinian city to obtain the backpack which seems to be crucial to his own fate, according to the words of his new accomplice, magician and tarot reader Luminitsia.

Juxtaposing extracts from the play Black Henry (2018) by Filipino-American playwright Luis Francia with locations of Basque colonial history, ‘They Speak Too’ attempts to make apparent the spectre of empire as it exists in the Basque Country.
Reading these extracts translated into Spanish, filmmaker Anna de Guia-Eriksson introduces a dialogue between language, forms of registry and the physical manifestations of history, which her own person as a Filipino is included.
