Her father (Asit Baran)'s friend had cheated him due to which they had to mortgage even their house to him. Mithu Mukherjee decided to help her family and came out of her house in search ofa job. At last she got a job in a company which however stopped its business within a few months' time. She then joined a hotel where she met Uttam Kumar. Uttam Kumar was a bar singer there. He was a singer in disguise and he used to help distressed women who were exploited by the so-called upper class rich people. Mithu Mukherjee (Khuku) was helped by Uttam Kumar who helped her family get her ancestral house back. At last Uttam Kumar gave all the secret details of those people to the police and took his leave.

Zamindar Surya Kishore Chowdhury is a kind-hearted man who loves playing chess and is a fantastic singer. While he cares for his estate and the people, he is careless towards his wife, Indu's feelings. However his world is turned upside down when he comes to know that his father, who knew went missing, was in real spending his lifetime in the jail as he was incorrectly accused of murdering a lady named Hemangini. His mother urges him to reinvestigate into the case and save his father. He goes to Kishnanagar in search of the people and the evidences which would help him to prove his father’s innocence. He meets Rita, an young and charming lady who assists him. They fall in love. Shankar faces a lot of roadblocks while trying to collect clues most of them which were imposed by the actual murderer. However he solves the mystery in the end and his father is thus, released from prison.
