A film about absence, narrated from the experiences of people who experience feelings of absence and distance, spread across Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde. The body, landscape, memory and time. Stories and places built with remembrance, oblivion and invention. A journey through the territories of memory, representation and belonging.

Fifty years after it was recorded, the footage of the graduation of the first and only class of the Indigenous Rural Guard reappears. In 1970, eighty indigenous marched, in uniform, in the courtyard of a police station, to the leadership of the military dictatorship. Fifty years later, the film seeks out these guards - their bodies, their stories, their memories. Fractures, silences, what remains and what is lost in violent Brazilian history.

One night seven years ago, Rafael came home after work and discovered that people he did not know had come looking for him. He immediately fled, without looking back. From that moment on, his life changed, as if that night had never ended. One evening, around an improvised fire near a factory, he decides to confide his journey to a stranger. Rafael’s intimate account meets the collective testimony of an entire nation oppressed by poverty, police repression and institutional corruption.
