History

Edward Smyth is a British filmmaker, curious to explore the most beautiful and peculiar things in life. Recently, he was commissioned by the BBC and the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), to create ‘Wave 3 (Cancelled?)’, which premiered at the BFI Southbank in January 2022, and is due to stream on the BBC iPlayer shortly afterwards. His films have screened at major London venues, including Curzon Soho, Whitechapel Gallery, ICA & BFI Southbank; with six programmed for the BAFTA-recognised London Short Film Festival. Into 2022, he’s developing several projects for TV / Film, including: satirical comedies, romantic fiction, and experimental films. He is a member of BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew.
