Rein Malmsten (February 6, 1942 Tallinn - May 31, 1993 Viljandi) started his career in the theater in 1965 as a decorator at the Drama Theater. From 1966 to 1967, Ugala was an artist-decorator, and from 1967 to 1993, Ugala was an actor. His father was actor Franz Malmsten, mother Eva Meil, uncle Hugo Malmsten, son Mait Malmsten, daughter-in-law Harriet Toompere.
