History

Born in 1977, in Istanbul, Burcu Atkar graduated from the Psychology department of Bosphorus University and got her master's degree in Film Studies at the University of Southampton. She worked as an editor at the Turkish film magazine "Sinema", beggining her career as a film critic. She started her own company and worked as a film distributor of independent art house films such as Los Amantes del Circulo Polar and Dear Wendy for two years. She was the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Total Film Turkey". She co-wrote and co-directed two short films, "Birth" and "Death" with Uygar Şirin. She has done jury work as a film critic of the Turkish Film Critics Association, a member of FIPRESCI. Today she continues to write for the monthly cinema magazine "Altyazı". Last short film is "My Sister".

Esin (27), a high school teacher, leading a monotonous life, lives with her father, Taner (55). One day, Deniz (21), a distant relative, arrives to take shelter in their home, to attend her university studies. At first Esin is reluctant to let her stay. However, Deniz, with her vivacity, changes the atmosphere in the house. As much as Esin is cold and joyless, Deniz is passionate and cheerful. In many ways her exact opposite, Deniz awakens Esin to the existence of side roads and hopes in life.
