History

As a new face in the media industry, Shawn has scored major roles on local television. Viewers first took notice of Shawn when he played the younger version of Peter Yu on Channel 5’s ‘Fried Rice Paradise’ and moved on to his first major supporting role as Julian on Channel 5’s first multi-lingual series, ‘128 Circle’. Since then, Shawn has been a fast rising star partaking many major productions, including a film directed by Royston Tan as well as the upcoming Channel 5’s Blockbuster Series – ‘Titoudao’, where Shawn plays Ah Zai, one of the major roles.

Evan Lim
Evan (played by Shawn Thia) and Sarah (played by Xenia Tan) enlist into the Institute of Sustainable Population, a governmental facility that assigns all conscripts a spouse as a drastic measure to increase the country’s population. They both hope to make the best out of their situations, albeit in polar opposite ways. Evan tries to game the system for his benefit, whereas Sarah works towards an honest living when their paths eventually cross - for the worse.

From a poor village girl to a famous wayang (Chinese Opera) star, Titoudao chronicles the colourful and turbulent life of celebrated wayang star Oon Ah Chiam. Born into a poor family of 12 children, Ah Chiam's father was always trying to get rid of her. She had to constantly prove herself in order to fight for chance to stay in the family. Fate brought her and her sister Ah Dui into the famous Sin Sai Hong wayang troupe. There she rose through the ranks through hard work and grit to become their top star. But not before she had to protect her sister from a lecherous trainer and fight off a scheming competitor Ah Ngor. And will she find love with the troupe master's son Ah Zai or a pushcart hawker Ah hock?
