History

Else Kleen was a Swedish journalist, writer, artiste and social commentator. She was engaged in social issues, and made reports on mental health care and prison care, and discovered the abuse of children and young people living in shelters. Else Kleen was married four times. Her last husband was Swedish Social democratic politician Gustav Möller, credited as the father of the social security system and the Welfare state, also called Folkhemmet.

Valdemar Jansson escapes prison and seeks out his fiancee Karin, but she does not want to know about him. She studies at the Social Institute and provides herself as a waitress in a cafe. She lives with her grandmother and her younger brother Benke. One day she discovers that Benke belongs to a boy, who makes minor burglaries in newspaper kiosks.
