History
Melanie Bumpus is an American Actress, known for Dear Mom (2019). Melanie Ann Bumpus was born on December 22nd, 2001 in Hackensack, New Jersey. She began work as a professional actress at 16 years old. Melanie began performing during childhood by studying dance, voice, various forms of acting, and going on auditions in elementary school. At a young age, she was exposed to the downside of breaking into the entertainment industry. This allowed her to develop a thick skin, awareness of scams, and how to determine which agencies or auditions were legitimate. After years of acting in town and high school plays, Melanie ventured off into work in television and film. She submitted herself to auditions, emailed local college film departments, and updated her resume regularly. This hard work paid off when she booked an NYU Tisch student film and got to play her dream role, Bianca Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You, in a mock scene exercise. Following that, Melanie appeared in the feature film The Adopted One (2020) and the teen web-series Finding Ourselves (2019) on Amazon Prime Video. Melanie also played the lead in the short film Dear Mom (2019), directed by her close friend, filmmaker DaniLyn Ifversen. This performance garnered attention from other student filmmakers, which lead to Melanie booking more roles soon after. She can be seen in a minor role in The Cure (2020), distributed by Marked by X Productions. When Melanie's not at an audition or on set, she spends her free time with family and friends, going to concerts, and reading.
