Departing for college, Abbie leaves her parents and brother who has autism and is non-verbal. As she explores her independence and sexuality, she's torn between her new life and her love for her brother.
While spending the day at his grandfather’s, Jordan’s eye catches a fragment of green cotton trapped in between the doors of a closet. When he opens the closet, he is mesmerized by a beautiful green dress. He puts on the dress. He feels empowered by this new look, but his grandpa comes in only to crush his moment of happiness. He lectures Jordan that dresses are only for girls and goes to take it off of him, but in the midst of the altercation, he tears the fabric.
In the frenzy before Christmas, two single parents accidentally mix up their toys at a crowded department store. As a result, both of their Christmases appear to be ruined. Although the two can’t stand each other, the only way to get things back on track is to help each other salvage their holiday plans – not realizing they’re falling for each other in the process.
