Inspired by a shocking incident at a factory in northeastern China in the mid-90s, this astonishing debut film portrays people struggling amidst rapid changes in the status quo. The production of the gunfight in the latter part is superb. A surprising directorial debut on a large scale.

Zheng, a middle-aged man, falls in straitened circumstances after divorce and job loss. However, an incident of his anger venting turns him into an Internet celebrity, "Busy Buddy". While savoring the unprecedented success in his life, Zheng meets his partner Liangliang, a middle school student. They team up to reveal people who have uncivilized behaviors in the town. A father-son relationship evolves between them. It seems that Zheng has come to a turning point in his life that will end all his misfortune. However, Zheng's ego and arrogance annoy Liangliang. Their relationship almost breaks down until Liangliang finds that Zheng has been diagnosed with a deadly disease. Zheng has decided to accomplish something meaningful during his remaining time, to save Liangliang from a crisis.

Studying in Hong Kong but living in Shenzhen (the port city of Mainland China), Peipei has spent 16 years in her life travelling between these two cities. To realize the dream of seeing snow in Japan with her bestie, Peipei joins a smuggling gang and uses her student identity to smuggle iPhones from Hong Kong to Mainland. Her family life and friendships begin to fall apart. The daily life of Peipei starts to get out of control.

The movie is based on a real historic event. During French's invading war against China in 1885, the French army took over Zhengnan Guan located in the Guangxi Province. Wishing to protect their beloved country, the 70 years old General Feng Zicai and his two sons volunteered to join the battle. The general understood it would be a difficult battle to win as the French soldiers held much more advanced equipment, resources and weapons. To show his devotion and determination, he brought his own coffin alongside with him to the war zone. He also utilized his experience with the Zhangnan Guan terrain to pave out strategies, made weapons applicable to their situations. These actions bolstered the morale tremendously, and prepared them well for the war. As a result, although the Chinese soldiers sustained heavy losses, they turned the tide of the battle and won.

After the unexpected death of his best friend, a man examines his life and finds it incredibly lonely. Inspired by an encounter with a beautiful and sexy model, he embarks with his three friends on what turns out to be a crazy (and slightly stupid) endeavor on a path towards fulfillment.

Adapted from the famous stage play of the same name, Devil And Angel (E Gun Tian Shi) follows Zha, played by Sun Li, a top student with a high IQ, who goes on a journey with Mo, played by famous Chinese comedy actor Deng Chao, a professional debt-collector and sometime hooligan, in order to face down her own neurosis, as well as cure Mo of his extreme insomnia.
