Ameer Fakher Eldin

History

Ameer Fakher Eldin is a director and writer based in Hamburg. He was born in Kyiv, Ukraine in 1991 to Syrian parents from the occupied Golan Heights. Premiering at the 78th Venice International Film Festival, his debut feature THE STRANGER won the Edipo Re Award in 2021 before enjoying great acclaim on the global festival circuit, winning several prizes, including the Best Arab Film Award at the 2021 edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) and Shadi Abdel-Salam Prize for Best Film in the International Critics’ Week Competition of CIFF. Moreover, just recently at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, THE STRANGER was nominated for Best Director and won the award for Best Cinematography. Fakher Eldin’s highly-anticipated sophomore feature YUNAN is set to shoot in the first half of 2023.
