After a robbery, insurance fraud and a following blackmail, the industrial Stüven has to flee the country with his young daughter Maria to Africa. After Stüven is killed on the trip, Maria is taken in by a native tribe and worshipped.

Two women fights for the same man in a world torn apart and lacking a moral compass. The first is a social climber, shameless and a rich seductress. The other is a decent and sincerely loving young woman from a common background. The man initially falls in love with the first lady, till he understadns that he is dealing with a man-eater. And changes focus to the other woman.
