A humble young woman takes care of his sister's child while also hiding her feelings towards her sister's lover.
Young "Paolo" is an orphan who falls in love with the charming singer "Marisa". She hope that he will fund her new magazine, but when she discovers he has already spent all his money on her, she rejects him. Desperate, he does something of which he will soon be ashamed.
Guido and Cristina fall in love, but she is betrothed to a solider. When he is reported killed they hope to marry, but his reappearance without his limbs makes matters difficult for all concerned.
