History

Born in New Jersey with little to no filter on the media they consumed as a child, Justin Landsman's formative experiences of endlessly watching horror movies, growing up on 90s/2000s video games, having unlimited access to the internet, and much more have flourished into a one of a kind horror screenwriting/filmmaking career. As someone who is trans/nonbinary under the school of thought that cinema is a medium of pure feeling, a lot of their work tends to revolve around imagery of otherworldy/cosmic transformation, as well as oppressive systems of control within the realm of horror iconography. Landsman tends to gravitate towards telling these stories through horror aesthetics such as 70s pastiche, analog video, dense meta narrative, and much more that contain heavy ties to trans filmmaking and film theory.
