Charles John Mahoney (born June 20, 1940) was an English-born American actor, best known for playing Martin 'Marty' Crane, a retired police officer and father of Kelsey Grammer's Dr. Frasier Crane, in the American sitcom "Frasier" (NBC, 1993–2004); he won a Screen Actors Guild Award for the role in 2000. In 1986, his performance in the Broadway revival of John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves earned him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. His many movies include The Manhattan Project, Suspect, Moonstruck, Eight Men Out, Say Anything... , The Russia House, In the Line of Fire, Striking Distance, Reality Bites, The Hudsucker Proxy, The American President, Primal Fear, and Dan in Real Life, among others. He also voiced characters in animated movies including Antz, The Iron Giant, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Atlantis: Milo's Return, and Kronk's New Groove. In addition to his major role on the series Frasier, he also appeared on other TV shows including H.E.L.P., The Human Factor, Cheers, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Becker, ER, In Treatment, Burn Notice, and Hot in Cleveland.
