A film within a film, "Looking for Oum Kulthum" is the plight of an Iranian woman artist/filmmaker living in exile, as she embarks on capturing the life and art of the legendary female singer of the Arab world, Oum Kulthum. Through her difficult journey, not unlike her heroine's, she has to face the struggles, sacrifices and the price that a woman has to pay if she dares to cross the lines of a conservative male dominated society.
Depicts various periods in the life of Saint Francesco: Youth and the first conversion in 1206, the process that inflicts his father, the birth of the historical nucleus of Fraternitas and the departure for the Holy Land up to the writing of rules and death, addressing the problem of the legacy of his message in the different interpretation that Chiara and Elia will give it.
After turning away from her Turkish family, young Ayla works as a kindergarten teacher and enjoys the liberties of being single. When she meet photographer Ayhan, she ignores all qualms and falls head over heels in love with him. Then Hatice, the mother of one of the kindergarten kids, is desperately seeking Ayla′s help: Hatice is living in fear since she has decided to divorce her husband, thereby enraging her strict Muslim family. Ayla takes her and the kid in, only later realizing that Ayhan is one of Hatice′s brothers.
