After failing to sell the skins he has achieved, Grey Beaver Hunter accepts some gold in exchange for his faithful dog White Fang. The new owner holds and mistreats the dog to infuriate and use in illegal dog fighting. In one of the White Fang fights suffer serious injuries. An animal advocate stopped the fight and White Fang takes to heal the wounds.

After a particularly brutal fight in which White Fang is severely injured by a ferocious bull dog, an animal lover, Weedon Scott, stops the fight and carries White Fang off. White Fang recovers and becomes the Scott family pet.

As the two commiserate, their bleak outlook lightens up a little, promising some fairer weather in the future. Jo Kennedy received a "Best Actress" Silver Bear award at the 1985 Berlin Film Festival for her portrayal of Mary.
