Quinzinho (Matheus Nachtergaele) has a promise to keep: take your child, Neco (Vinicius Miranda), to the city to watch a movie Mazzaropi. They live in a small farm in São Paulo. In this odyssey by the cities of São Paulo, he also leads his wife Zulmira (Gorete Miracles), which part unwillingly, and the donkey Policarpo. On the journey, they find regional peculiarities and undergo magical situations, related to popular belief.

Lisbela is a young woman who loves going to the movies. Leléu is a con man, going from town to town selling all sort of things and performing as master of ceremonies for some cheesy numbers, such as the woman who gets transformed into a gorilla. He gets involved with Linaura, a sexy and beautiful woman who happens to be the wife of the most frightening hitman of the place. The hitman finds out his wife's affair and goes after Leléu, who has to leave in a hurry. In another town, he meets and falls instantly in love with Lisbela, who is engaged to Douglas, a hillbilly who tries hard to pass for a cosmopolitan Rio de Janeiro dweller.

Duda, Tato and Nick are inseparable friends, and call themselves "Os Xeretas" (The Snoopers). One day they find a girl with a strange symbol tattooed on her arm, lost in the city. The mystic Alana says she is, in fact, a time traveller, belonging to the Aleph people, responsible for the gates of time and space. She needs to get hold of a medallion to go home, or else she will die, but the medallion has been stolen. The Xeretas decide to help her. They go after the unscrupulous thief and his assistant, who had stolen it from the Museum of São Paulo. In the process, they discover a network of underground tunnels leading to unexpected places.
