Es la undécima película de One Piece y se establece después de la saga de Thriller Bark y antes de la saga del Archipiélago Sabaody. Esta es la primera película de One Piece que es lanzada en 3D CGI. La película es también la primera película de One Piece desde la pelicula 3 en tener una doble función. Esta vez, la película se presentó con "Toriko : Aventura Gourmet", ambos se anuncia como el "Salto Héroes de Cine". La doble función se ha puesto en libertad el 19 de marzo, 2011.
