Sinopsis
Before Nike, and Adidas, there was the Hi-Jo! Here is a Brooklyn tale set back in the day about a young Italian-American shoemaker (Frank) on the verge of greatness. News comes from his cousins in Italy that they have obtained the first automated vulcanizing machinery to produce gym shoes called the Hi-Jo.

Tras la repentina muerte de su padre, Charlie Price (Joel Edgerton) tiene que hacerse cargo del negocio familiar situado en Northampton: una fábrica de zapatos convencionales, la "Price and Sons". Charlie advierte enseguida que el negocio no marcha bien y que sin nuevos pedidos irán a la bancarrota. Además, sus empleados son bastante escépticos respecto a su capacidad como jefe. Así las cosas, Charlie decide ir a Londres en busca de soluciones; allí va a parar, por casualidad, a un cabaret regentado por una tal Lola (Chiwetel Ejiofor), en el que los travestis usan unas peculiares botas altas de plataforma. Charlie se da cuenta entonces de que tiene ante sí un auténtico filón por explotar en el mercado del calzado.
