Sebastián, un arquitecto en crisis con su mujer, pasa ocasionalmente por un pequeño pueblo. Mariela, una niña huérfana, lo cree el enviado de Dios por el que estuvo pidiendo y miente en el pueblo diciendo que él es su tío y que ha venido a hacerse cargo de ella. Sebastián comienza a relacionarse con Mariela y su pasado. La mentira crece, Sebastián comienza a dudar de su verdadera identidad y Mariela, y todo el pueblo, intentarán impedir que se vaya. Sebastián, an architect in crisis with his wife, occasionally passes through a small town. Mariela, an orphan girl, believes him to be the one sent by God for whom she has been praying and lies in town saying that he is her uncle and that he has come to take care of her. Sebastián begins to relate to Mariela and her past. The lie grows, Sebastián begins to doubt his true identity and Mariela, and the whole town, will try to prevent him from leaving.
