When fighting for necessary change, rejection of the status quo is a worthy rebellion. SOMEHOW HOPEFUL is the story of Jason Rutledge, a woodsman dedicating his life to proven methods of protecting our most vital life-giving asset - a healthy, diverse forest.  The woodsman's ally in the fight to restore our environment has been mankind's most reliable partner for thousands of years, the powerful draft horse.  Jason, and those like him, are poets, craftsmen, artists, farmers and educators doing the real work to make our planet whole again. While the woodsman's critics say he's stuck in the past, Jason believes he is in the future.

The U.S. Army needs more horses for the Spanish-American War. Hoppy must turn his Bar 20 cowhands into Rough Riders to gather up the horses, and of course bad guys try to sabotage the operation.

A rock band is on the brink of super-stardom. Until now they've juggled their music career with cocaine smuggling. The musicians and their manager wish to sever ties with organized-crime, leave the drug world behind and concentrate on music. They are coerced into doing one last job for the Mob. They lose the $2 million of cocaine and find themselves marked men unless they can fulfill their obligations.

In one of the occupied European cities, the commandant of the garrison gathers a troupe of circus performers. Coming from different countries, they are in the humiliating position of people forced to serve their enslavers. Many of them, recruited from camps and workhouses, were quite content with their lot. Only after a chain of subsequent events, the artists raise an uprising. Unarmed people are not able to resist the arrived guards. They die, but at the cost of their lives they regain their lost human dignity.
