"Água nas guelras" (Agua en las branquias) relata la inmersión ritual de Franz, un hombre que durante su niñez se mudó con su familia de una gran ciudad alemana a una pequeña isla perdida en el Océano Atlántico, las Islas Azores, donde con el paso del tiempo logró descubrirse a sí mismo y concebir una vida muy diferente a la que tenía mientras surgía una conexión profunda entre él y su entorno natural. "Água nas guelras" (Agua en las branquias) es una historia sobre la identidad y el hogar, sobre la complejidad del proceso que lleva a un hombre a conocerse a sí mismo y que dibuja una metáfora entre el mundo submarino con la vida en la isla. De igual forma muestra la dificultad del impacto con inmersiones en apnea a decenas de metros de profundidad, así como la lucha de venir de una gran ciudad industrializada y encontrarte comenzando una nueva vida en una pequeña isla en medio del océano.
