Los hermanos Samuel Beckett y Emerson llevan una vida complicada. Su padre, Warren, tira a la basura bebiendo y apostando el poco dinero que llega a casa. Charles Lepicard, Lucas Malvoisin y Éric Masson pretenden falsificar billetes. Éric cree tener bajo manga a un grabador sin igual, el de un tal Mandarès (ahora preso), Robert Mideau, le "Cave", es decir, en el argot de los truhanes, un ser ordinario, crédulo e ignorante. Pero el fraude no se puede hacer sin Ferdinand Maréchal alias "Le Dabe", antiguo falsificador de élite. Retirado en Venezuela tras un golpe frustrado, recibe la visita de Charles que le propone un último negocio con los florines, la misma moneda del golpe frustrado. Le Dabe acepta y viaja a París. El equipo se pone a trabajar.

The story revolves around the greedy nephew of a crime lord, who has his uncle bumped off so that he can take over the business. There are several silly plot threads which include his wish to also bump off the stepson of his dead uncle, and eliminate the assassins he hired (in order to tie up loose ends). Meanwhile, a cop is out to arrest any or all of the bad guys.

Kelly follows Manti, an Indian who works for Weathers, to the gang's hideout and is captured. But Renfrew is trailing Kelly.
