El evento atrajo a más de 50 millones de estadounidenses y que se publicitó como 'La batalla de sexos'.

Boyka es un luchador de boxeo que se encuentra en mitad de una importante liga. Durante la competición se produce una muerte lo que hace que empiece a replantearse verdaderamente lo que merece la pena este deporte. Rocky Balboa, el boxeador de Philadelphia, disfruta de su efímera fama después de estar a punto de derrotar al campeón mundial de los pesos pesados Apollo Creed. Las ofertas publicitarias para el anuncio de productos no van bien debido a la limitada educación y falta de sofisticación del púgil. Por ello, y debido a la falta de dinero y al embarazo de su mujer Adrian, acepta la demanda de revancha del "casi derrotado" Creed.

Nuevas aventuras tanto personales como deportivas del boxeador Rocky Balboa, que en esta ocasión debe enfrentarse a un duro y frío boxeador soviético, llamado Ivan Drago.

Tras haber defendido el título diez veces, el campeón mundial de boxeo Rocky Balboa (Silvester Stallone) ha decidido retirarse. Sin embargo Clubber Lang (Mr. T), un boxeador muy agresivo que ha ido escalando puestos a base de destrozar a sus rivales, desea arrebatarle el título. Pese a la negativa de Rocky, Clubber consigue provocarle para que acepte el desafío, y esta vez el resultado del combate se presume bastante incierto.

El inspector de policía Ma, cuyas violentas maneras le han valido la apertura de un expediente, se encuentra asignado a un caso de tráfico de drogas. Infiltrado en la banda, su colega Wilson ha logrado la detención de uno de sus miembros pero, con dos hombres todavía en libertad, mantener la seguridad dará lugar a un rosario de trepidantes persecuciones y furibundos combates...

Derice, Sanka, Junio Bevil y Yul son cuatro atletas jamaicanos, sin apenas recursos y sin tener conocimiento o adaptación a la nieve, pero dispuestos a alcanzar una difícil meta: ganar la medalla de oro nada menos que en los Juegos Olímpicos de invierno de Calgary, Canadá. Para ello reclutan como entrenador a un ex-campeón norteamericano (John Candy), quien aceptará la imposible tarea debido a su precaria situación económica.

El campeón mundial de boxeo en la categoría de pesos pesados George “Iceman” Chambers (Ving Rhames) es enviado a prisión acusado de violación, cargo del que él se declara totalmente inocente. Lo que más le indigna es que en la cima de su carrera de boxeador profesional no va a poder disfrutar y defender su título de campeón invicto. Cumpliendo cadena perpetua por un crimen pasional en la misma penitenciaría a la que será enviado Iceman se encuentra Monroe Hutchen (Wesley Snipes). Los reclusos consideran a Hutchen como a un héroe, como a su indiscutible campeón de boxeo. Resignado a pasar el resto de su vida en la cárcel, a Hutchen todavía le obsesiona, sin embargo, la duda de si hubiera podido llegar a ser alguien como boxeador.

Rocky vuelve de Rusia tras su pelea contra Ivan Drago para encontrarse con que ha perdido casi toda su fortuna. Además, el boxeo le ha dejado ciertas secuelas que fuerzan su retiro. Para lograr salir de la bancarrota Rocky subasta sus cosas y le jura a su hijo que lo va a recuperar todo. Sin más opciones, los Balboa vuelven a su antiguo barrio y a vivir de nuevo en la antigua casa de su mujer con pocos recursos. Un boxeador, llamado Union Cane, gana el título vacante.

El argumento está basado en la novela publicada por Garth Stein, la cual responde al mismo nombre que el filme. La historia combina diferentes sentimientos y situaciones comprometidas para la sociedad como son el dolor, la liberación, el cariño o el riesgo. Enzo, un perro que ha experimentado muchas aventuras interesantes a lo largo de su vida, es el personaje que pone voz a la película. Pese a no ser una persona de carne y hueso, este entrañable animal será capaz de dar diferentes lecciones a los seres humanos sobre cuál tendría que ser la manera adecuada de actuar sea cual sea la situación en la que se encuentren.

Facing the Giants (también conocida como Desafío a los gigantes) es una película cristiana dirigida y protagonizada por Alex Kendrick. El reparto fue compuesto por voluntarios de la Iglesia Bautista Sherwood, y es la segunda película hecha por Sherwood Pictures. Fue filmada en Albany, Georgia, y la película relata una historia de fútbol americano de una perspectiva de la fe cristiana.

Esta película continúa con la historia de la segunda parte, con el luchador de MMA Case Walker que se prepara para regresar a las competencias y ser el campeón una vez más.

Sean Sherk was originally slated to fight but tested positive for steroids. With the lightweight championship vacated, the Penn-Stevenson bout was altered to be for the undisputed championship.

Validation was the first UFC event held in New Jersey since June 4, 2005's UFC 53: Heavy Hitters in Atlantic City.

UFC 75: Champion vs. Champion was a mixed martial arts (MMA) event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The event was held September 8, 2007 at The O2 in London, England. The event was on Setanta Sports 1 in the United Kingdom, TV4 Sport in Sweden, PPV1 in Ireland, and offered on tape delay on Spike TV for North American audiences.

UFC 79: Nemesis was a mixed martial arts (MMA) event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), that took place on December 29, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main events featured a fight between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva, as well as the highly anticipated rubber match between former UFC Welterweight Champions Georges St. Pierre and Matt Hughes.

UFC 82: Pride of a Champion was a mixed martial arts (MMA) event that took place on 1st March, 2008 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The main event was a UFC & Pride FC middleweight title unification match between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and PRIDE FC welterweight champion Dan Henderson.

UFC 84: Ill Will was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on May 24, 2008, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card featured the return of Sean Sherk, who was suspended and stripped of his UFC lightweight title after he tested for steroids at UFC 73. He faced B.J. Penn, who had since won the vacated title.

UFC 81: Breaking Point was a mixed martial arts (MMA) event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event featured Tim Sylvia and Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira for UFC's Interim World Heavyweight Championship.

UFC 76: Knockout was a mixed martial arts (MMA) event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The event took place on September 22, 2007 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Though the event was subtitled Knockout, the entire card ironically produced no knockouts.

UFC Japan: Ultimate Japan (aka UFC 15.5) was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on December 21, 1997, in Yokohama, Japan. The event was seen on pay per view in the United States, on cable TV in Japan, and was later released on home video. It featured a four-man heavyweight tournament, the first ever UFC Middleweight Championship bout, a Heavyweight Championship bout, a Superfight and was the first UFC appearance of MMA legends Kazushi Sakuraba and Frank Shamrock. It was the first event to be located in a country other than the United States or its territories. The undercard produced the inaugural UFC Lightweight Champion (under 185 pounds) from a four man tournament, Conor "The Mighty" Quinn. However, this division was disestablished after one successful title defence and the Champion's reign lasted a mere 94 days.

UFC 86: Jackson vs. Griffin was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on July 5, 2008, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The title bout between Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Forrest Griffin, coaches on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest, was for Jackson's UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.

UFC 7: The Brawl in Buffalo was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 8, 1995, at the Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, New York. The event was seen live on pay per view in the United States, and later released on home video.

UFC 29: Defense of the Belts was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on December 16, 2000 at Differ Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

UFC 40: Vendetta was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 22, 2002, at the MGM Grand Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. The event was broadcast live on pay per view in the United States, and later released on DVD.

UFC 66: Liddell vs. Ortiz was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on December 30, 2006. UFC 66's main event was a championship fight with two of the UFC's biggest light heavyweight stars, Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell defending his title against former champion Tito Ortiz. The co-main event saw Forrest Griffin take on 'The Dean Of Mean' Keith Jardine.

UFC 16 was an MMA event held by the UFC on March 13, 1998 in New Orleans, Louisiana, live on pay per view in the USA and later released on home video. It featured the first UFC Lightweight tournament in the USA for fighters under 170lbs, a Middleweight Championship bout, a Heavyweight and a Middleweight Superfight. A UFC lightweight championship bout was contested on the undercard, with the winner to fight UFC 16 lightweight tournament winner Pat Miletich to unify the title. Conor “The Mighty” Quinn successfully defended the under 185lbs Lightweight Championship he won at UFC 15.5, defeating Alfonso Alcarez via knockout in the first round. However, this linear inaugural Lightweight Championship and division for under 185lbs was disestablished on 25 March 1998, replaced with a division for under 170 pounds, and the unification bout never took place. The records for this inaugural Lightweight Championship and division have since been expunged from UFC archives, or were never included.

UFC 27: Ultimate Bad Boyz was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 22, 2000 at Lake Front Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

UFC 42: Sudden Impact was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. UFC 42 was the first UFC event to take place in Florida. Headlining the event was a Welterweight Title bout between Matt Hughes and Sean Sherk. UFC 42 also marked the first UFC appearance of future Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin.

UFC 48: Payback was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The featured contestants of the evening were Ken Shamrock and Kimo Leopoldo, who had met once before in 1996 at UFC 8, with Shamrock reigning victorious.

UFC 23: Ultimate Japan 2 was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on November 19, 1999 at Tokyo Bay NK Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

UFC 72: Victory was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The event took place Saturday, June 16, 2007 at The Odyssey in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Martin Kampmann was scheduled to fight Rich Franklin, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. Yushin Okami replaced Kampmann in the main event.
