Continuación de la saga de los Corleone con dos historias paralelas: la elección de Michael Corleone como jefe de los negocios familiares y los orígenes del patriarca, el ya fallecido Don Vito, primero en Sicilia y luego en Estados Unidos, donde, empezando desde abajo, llegó a ser un poderosísimo jefe de la mafia de Nueva York.

Richie Furst (Justin Timberlake) es un estudiante de la Universidad de Princeton que pierde el dinero que necesitaba para su matrícula al apostarlo en un juego de póker online. Cuando descubre que el sitio web está alojado en una isla remota, va a enfrentar a su dueño, el millonario Ivan Block (Ben Affleck), pero termina convirtiéndose en su discípulo y mano derecha. La relación entre ambos alcanza el punto de ebullición mientras un agente del FBI (Anthony Mackie) intenta utilizar a Furst para detener a Block.

Tras escapar de prisión, Wellman busca venganza tendiendo una trampa a un detective corrupto de la policía responsable de su encarcelamiento por asesinato. Para ello, contará con la ayuda de una mujer a la que secuestra después de su fuga... Wellman Anthony Santee (Dolph Lundgren), un ex-conductor de coches de carreras, huye de prisión buscando una sangrienta venganza para atrapar a los policías corruptos que lo encarcelaron. Tendrán lugar frenéticas persecuciones con ferraris a través del desierto, con muchos tiroteos violentos en su camino, le acompañará su rehén, una mujer policía y se encontrará con muchos viejos amigos que le ayudarán a salir del paso. Finalmente intentará ponerle una trampa al cabecilla del grupo.

“Sin frenos” nos relatará la historia Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), un mensajero de Nueva York. Esquivar coches a toda velocidad, taxistas enloquecidos y ocho millones de peatones malhumorados forma parte de su día a día, pero él es el mejor entre los ágiles y agresivos mensajeros en bicicleta de Nueva York. Hay que ser de una raza especial, con una mezcla a partes iguales de pericia y chifladura, para conducir una fixie –bicicleta superligera, sin cambios ni frenos— arriesgándose a convertirse en una mancha más sobre el pavimento cada vez que se mueve entre el tráfico de la ciudad. Pero un tipo que está acostumbrado a arriesgar su vida continuamente, está a punto de enfrentarse a peligros aún mayores cuando su última entrega del día —lo que en principio parecía un servicio premium rutinario— acaba convirtiéndose en una persecución a vida o muerte a través de las calles de Manhattan.
