El joven Kim ha crecido en la India de finales del siglo XIX, durante la dominacion británica. Muy joven ingresa en el ejército colonial, donde trabaja como mensajero del coronel. En uno de sus muchos encargos descubre sus verdaderos orígenes y el misterio de su nacimiento. A partir de ahí empezará a luchar por la paz de forma totalmente incansable.

Guerra Civil americana (1861-1865). Las caballos que necesita urgentemente el ejército de la Unión son sistemáticamente robados por cuatreros que las conducen al Sur. Based on a play by Hisashi Inoue, it focuses on the sufferings of the survivors of Hiroshima. The film takes place during 4 days in the summer of 1948, as the ghost of her father visits Mitsué (Rié Miyama). He had somehow learned that she has fallen in love, and tries to convince her to start her new life. But Mitsué obstinately refuses his warm and humorous encouragements : « People were killed in my place. I do not have the right to find happiness », she says.

This is a story about the battle for a hospital building in Grozny (Chechnya) in January 1995 between Russian Army forces and Chechen rebels supported by Arabian mujahideen and international mercenaries. Although the story is fictional, most of the characters are based on real-life prototypes and events are the compilation of true events during the Grozny Siege in the First Chechen War.

Belgrade, the summer of 1991. Yugoslavia is falling apart. Gavran can't get a driving licence because he is color blind. He is a rural Bosnian introvert obsessed with trucks. So, as soon as he is released from prison, he steals a truck to go on a joyride. Suzana, a city girl, discovers she is pregnant, but until she's due for an abortion, she decides to go to Dubrovnik. She hitchikes and Gavran almost runs her over. She is unhurt, but she blackmails him to take her to Dubrovnik. Two people from different worlds, equally removed from the real one. For him she is the first woman he can talk to; for her he is just another idiot to add to the long list of them that she has so far compiled. But the pressure of danger and the intimations of war force them together. The world about them has become so absurd that they seem to each other the only sober people left.

La historia va de dos reinos que están en guerra, Levamme y Amatsukami. Un día, en una fiesta, el príncipe de Levamme, pide la mano de Fana del Moral en matrimonio y le promete que en un año acabará la guerra y que se casará con ella. Pasado el año, la guerra continúa y la gente de Amatsukami intenta asesinar a Fana, pero no lo consiguen, es por ello que el príncipe, preocupado por lo que sucedió, propone enviarla al Reino Levamme para tenerla protegida.

La película describe el despertar sexual y las aventuras de un adolescente Roger durante la época del estallido de la Primera Guerra Mundial.
