Se aborda el conflicto generacional ya que la juventud rechaza los principios que les pretenden inculcar los adultos quienes parecen haberse olvidado que practicaron los mismos excesos. A causa de esta incongruencia el comportamiento de los adolescentes es desmedido, frenético, a veces al punto al punto de la tragedia. Apreciamos chicas que tienen claro el respeto que merecen y exigen, así como otras que están dispuestas a soportar cualquier maltrato con tal de pertenecer al grupo. Se aborda la crisis de pareja que se ha disparado debido a la precipitación con que las parejas deciden casarse, sin conocerse a sí mismos y sin tener idea de con quien lo están haciendo. Finalmente queda bien establecido que la vida a veces concede segundas oportunidades pero a veces hay quienes se quedan en el camino.

Chema, Fernando y Millán son tres jóvenes y brillantes profesionales en paro. Aparte de cobrar el subsidio de desempleo, ejercen actividades de carácter picaresco que rozan el delito. Chema pide dinero en el Metro, fingiéndose impedido; Fernando vende “chocolate” en El Rastro, y Millán ejerce de plañidero en entierros y velatorios. Pero como estos oficios no son muy lucrativos, deciden crear una Agencia Matrimonial. A pesar de que carecen de los recursos técnicos más elementales, empiezan a recibir a los clientes, emparejándolos a unos con otros. Una serie de despropósitos en cadena convierten el ambicioso proyecto empresarial en un auténtico caos.

Ivan is an undocumented immigrant from Eastern Europe who is in Italy looking for work to support himself and his father, who has a gambling addiction. When Ivan hears of work on a nearby island, he makes the trip only to be cheated and beaten by unscrupulous thugs. When all seems bleak, Ivan is befriended by Martina, an eccentric woman who never speaks and lives with Father Enzo, a compassionate priest who takes in misfits and transients. Despite his warm heart, Enzo has a harsh personality which has only gotten worse since he's been bedridden by a stroke. Enzo's sister helps look after him, but he's certain she only wants to gain control of land he owns but uses only to keep bees, which are cared for by Martina. As Ivan becomes part of the priest's household, he helps make Enzo's life more harmonious and bonds with the normally shy Martina, but not everyone in the community takes so kindly to the stranger who is clearly not Italian.
