The Seventh Continent (1966)

Adapted from the TV and radio series of the same name, the producer of said show reads letters from three woman providing the framing story for this melodrama anthology film. The tales focus on parenting and family struggles.

A boy dreams of winning an ice hockey game. Meanwhile, a professional hockey star moves into the neighborhood, offering his services as a goalkeeper--leading two rival teams of Prague schoolboys, The Little Lions and The Devil Street Boys, to fall over themselves in order to gain his favor. The goalie's son, basking in his father's glory, is asked to replace a member of the Lions team, prompting the usual boyish rivalries and battles. Some of the Lions players are so preoccupied with the impending "big game" that their schoolwork suffers, to the chagrin of their teachers and parents.

Leopold Kohák married a rich widow a long time ago and now has nothing to do compared to his energetic wife. He's growing old and troubled by the fact that he betrayed his first love Emča and his beloved river Sázava where he spent his childhood and youth. A visit from an old friend Lebeda brings it all back to him. After a nervous breakdown Leopold secretly visits his home instead of going to the spa. A wandering tramp suggest Leopold should bathe in the magical waters of the Sázava, and slowly his youth returns to him.

A modern fairy tale that takes place in the present.

A group of children discover the new continent of the world, uninhabited by adults. Soon, many other children are joining them in that new paradise, leaving their parents and other adults baffled on all remaining continents.

In his feature debut, Dneska přišel nový kluk (A New Boy Started Today) from 1981, the director Vladimír Drha set the tone for a number of Czech films, which critically depicted the state of society from the perspective of young protagonists. Although, Drha primarily found scope for his work in television, he returned to the world of a “working youth” in his second film Mezek (The Mulish Victor, 1985) – albeit following him from the point of view of an educator. Tras la muerte de sus padres, Mowgli, un niño de apenas dos años, queda abandonado en la selva y es recogido por una manada de lobos. En el seno de la manada, Mowgli es criado como un lobo más hasta que crece y empieza a desenvolverse por sí mismo en la selva.

Mikey, un muchacho de trece años, que junto con su hermano mayor y sus amigos se hacen llamar 'Los Goonies', decide subir a jugar al desván de su casa, donde su padre guarda antigüedades. Allí, el grupo encuentra el mapa de un tesoro.

Ignacio (Jack Black) es un luchador gordo con un socio de equipo. Su madre era una misionera de Escandinavia y su padre era diácono de México. Murieron cuando Ignacio era pequeño. Creciendo como huérfano en un monasterio mexicano se convirtió en el cocinero del orfanato. Ignacio soñaba con convertirse en un luchador, pero la prohibición de la lucha en el monasterio no se lo permitía. Como en el orfanato la comida era escasa, a Nacho se le ocurrió un plan para conseguir el dinero para los huérfanos, ir a competir en la lucha libre, pero debe tener cuidado con la hermana Encarnación (Ana de la Reguera) con quien tiene mucho en común. Ignacio decide finalmente ser un luchador.

Wayne Szalinski es un científico e inventor que desarrolla una máquina que permite encoger el tamaño de los objetos. Una pelota de béisbol activa accidentalmente la máquina sobre sus hijos, que vivirán una auténtica aventura intentando atravesar el césped del jardín hasta la casa, convertido ahora en una auténtica "jungla" para ellos.

Seguido por un equipo de cámara para documentar sus experiencias, Cody deja su familia y su hogar en Shiverpool, la Antártida, para viajar a la isla de Pen Gu para el Campeonato de Surf en Memoria de Big Z. En el camino, Cody conoce al surfero de Sheboygan, Chicken Joe, al famoso promotor de surf Reggie Belafonte, el cazatalentos de surf Mikey Abromowitz, y la enérgica vigilante Lani Aliikai, que reconocen la pasión de Cody por el surf, aunque en ocasiones esté un poco mal encauzado. Cody cree que esa voluntad para ganar le dará la admiración y el respeto que desea, pero cuando inesperadamente se enfrenta con un viejo surfero acabado, Cody empieza a encontrar su propio camino...
