Argelia, 1954. En medio del duro invierno, Daru (Viggo Mortensen), un profesor francés, acepta de mala gana escoltar a Mohamed (Reda Kateb), un hombre acusado de asesinato, a través de las montañas Atlas para que se enfrente a juicio.
