Henry Darger (1892-1972) ha trabajado toda su vida en empleos de baja categoría en Chicago. Vivía solo y en situación de pobreza, no tenía amigos o familiares cercanos. Pasaba sus horas libres en soledad, entonces se entretenía trabajando en una novela ilustrada de 15.000 páginas titulada "Los Reinos de lo irreal". Su trabajo fue descubierto sólo después de que Darger fuera trasladado a un hospital en los últimos días de su vida. También escribió Darger revistas y una autobiografía. El documental usa entrevistas con los vecinos de Darger y la narración de pasajes de su novela, junto con sus ilustraciones, para explorar su mente y obra.

Jesus Camp, Soldados de Dios es un documental estadounidense realizado en 2006 dirigido por Rachel Grady y Heidi Ewing sobre un campamento de verano pentecostal/neopentecostal para niños que pasan el verano aprendiendo y practicando sus "dotes proféticas" mientras les enseñan que pueden "devolver Estados Unidos a Jesús". Según el distribuidor, "no coincide con ningún punto de vista predefinido" e intenta ser "un retrato honesto e imparcial de una facción de la comunidad evangélica"
