Una boda original (2017)

Estamos en Lancashire, Reino Unido. Una muchacha se niega a acabar su plato, lo cual enfurecerá inmensamente a su padre y provocará una serie de acontecimientos fuera de control, hasta llegar a un problema de proporciones disparatadas.

Ohio, 1840. Un pastor llega a una pequeña comunidad dispuesto a ofrecer sus servicios espirituales, y encuentra a unas gentes mezquinas e incapaces de aceptar cualquier síntoma de progreso. El hijo del pastor se rebela contra esta situación y marcha a Baltimore para estudiar medicina. Cuando estalla la Guerra Civil Americana, el muchacho se alista en el frente.

La trama de la película gira en torno a un joven llamado Tim Lake. El protagonista y su familia tienen el curioso don de poder viajar a través del tiempo. Al descubrir esta cualidad, Tim empieza a beneficiarse de ello para cambiar diferentes aspectos de su vida. Se enamora de una chica, Mary, a la que conoce tras transladarse a vivir a Londres por motivos de trabajo. Su historia de amor se verá beneficiada gracias al don de Tim, sin embargo, el protagonista no tardará en darse cuenta de que su habilidad no es capaz de ampararle en algunos problemas y cuestiones familiares.

The movie has pandiyaraajan and vivek. Pandiyaraajan as usual makes the audience laugh with his comedy scenes. Vivek has done a decent role but it is below par compared to his standards. As usual S.S.Chandran has done a meiocre performance in this movie.

The stories are interconnected by documentary shots and numerous interviews taken on the streets from passers-by who are asked the same question: “what does it mean to love?”.

Pertti Ylermi Lindgren (b. 1936) was engaged to 76 women, married none, but took the money of all. Lindgren is the real thing, as far as swindlers go. Peter von Bagh asked him to play himself in a film that would reconstruct some of his greatest moments, i.e. the most flamboyant «stunts» – and he agreed! So, marvel at Lindgren playing Lindgren, and study, on the film's second narrative string, how he's trying to get by, dancing and being charming through the summer of 1970, in dance-halls and pavilions.

A sublime, exceptionally well acted film about a single working class mother and her teenage son. She finds a man and marries him, her son is jealous and full of hot air at first but comes to understand her in the end. That's all. The simplicity of the story notwithstanding, this is one of the most sincere and lyrical films to have been produced in the 1960s-1970s Soviet Union. Very realistic, too, showing the life as it was then. Lyusyena Ovchinnikova is superb, it is this film that makes one realize what a wonderful and under-appreciated actress she was. Nikolay Burlyayev is very good as a lanky teenager, the final scene with him carrying a glass of carbonated water for his mother is stunning. Oleg Efremov is very convincing as a working class man who found his happiness at last.
