Max Renn, un aburrido operador de televisión por cable, un día descubre una televisión "real" llamada Videodrome. Una palpitante pesadilla de ciencia-ficción que nos muestra un mundo en el que el vídeo puede controlar y alterar la vida humana. Considerada por Andy Warhol la "Naranja mecánica" de los 80.

Un detective privado consigue mantener dignamente a su familia ocupándose de resolver casos sencillos e irrelevantes. Pero, de repente, su vida cambia radicalmente cuando, durante la investigación de un caso, queda atrapado dentro de un sórdido mundo de espeluznantes snuff-movies.

Su argumento gira en torno a Richard Dane, un hombre que dispara y mata a un ladrón que estaba armado y que había entrado en su hogar. Aunque parece un claro caso de legítima defensa, el padre del fallecido no opina lo mismo, de ahí que ahora quiera acabar con la vida de Dane.

La hija de un hombre que vive en un pueblo del Midwest desaparece durante un viaje con su instituto a California. Un detective encuentra una pista que lo lleva al mundillo de las películas porno. A continuación, el padre viajará al lugar para recuperar a la joven.

The group believes that they are going to secretly shoot porn, and moves to the small town of Limeira. When Bob falls in love for Lia, he tries to convince Michael to forget the snuff and avoid her death. But Michael is reluctant and does not want to give up his project.
