My Best Day (2012)

Una mujer que planea pedirle matrimonio a su novia durante las vacaciones anuales con la familia descubre que los conservadores padres de su pareja aún desconocen la orientación sexual de su hija.

Nina Shah es una joven mujer indo-escocesa que sufre una crisis de la identidad que regresa a su hogar cuando su padre muere repentinamente, Nina es forzada entonces a volver, para hacer funcionar el negocio familiar, un restaurante de comida hindú: el Curry House. Así vuelve a encontrarse con su amigo Bobbi, una drag queen bollywoodense. Asímismo conoce a Lisa, una carismática joven a quien el padre de Nina (sumido en deudas) le vendió la mitad del negocio. Nina se embarca en una misión personal que consistirá en ganar la competencia de restaurantes, Best of the West, un trofeo altamente apreciado en el mundo de la cocina hindú. Mientras tanto los sentimientos de Nina también se van complicando cuando comienza a descubrir que se está enamorando de Lisa.

Frau Karner persuades her husband to hide the two escapees.

With sometimes painful directness, Valie Export conducts a psychological investigation of the body in this film performance, externalizes an internal state. In front of a police photo showing two children who were sexually abused by their parents, she tortuously cuts into her cuticles until blood drips into a bowl of milk on her lap. On top of the symbolic plane of blood and milk, the physical effect on the viewer of her destructive act of self-mutilation is extreme.
