Sinopsis

24-year-old child marriage activist, Sali, is on a mission to end the harmful practice of child marriage. She seems to be the only person able to help the 14-year-old, soon-to-be child bride, Adi, living in a rural West African village. The tale of Adi's uncertain future and Sali's painful past shows the devastating impact child marriage can have over multiple generations as well as the bravery it takes to speak out against it.

Child Bride
Jennie is a twelve-year-old girl living with her parents in extremely rural mountain country. Her schoolteacher, Miss Carol, though a mountain girl herself, has gone off to be educated and returned in hopes of stopping the tradition of child marriage which permeates the culture. Jennie's father Ira is a good man who tries to protect Miss Carol from the men who threaten her if she doesn't call off her crusade. One of these men, Jake Bolby, has his eye on little Jennie and plots to make her his bride. NOTE: the actress playing Jennie was 14 years old when she made this film, and appears topless in a couple of shots.

But the project runs into trouble already from the get-go, because the embassy of the Ivory Coast won’t let Miki enter the country until he has an invitation – from the chocolate industry.

Magicians of the Earth: Kings of the Water
Cyprien Tokoudagba is from the city of Abomey in the Benin Republic of West Africa, where he paints the religious houses of the vodun. Haas and his film crew follow Cyprien as he first paints and then takes part in the ceremony to open a new temple. The paintings include three vodun figures and several emblems, including a pipe and a duck. Cyprien explains his work in the context of the religion and takes the crew to film two other local ceremonies, one where the dead are believed to come back to instruct the living through wild dancing and, another, where women warriors perform their war dances.
