El 9 de octubre de 2019 se estrena en cines S&M2, una obra imprescindible para conmemorar el 20.º aniversario de los míticos conciertos S&M y del álbum del mismo nombre grabado junto a la Orquesta Sinfónica de San Francisco. Ahora podrá volver a ver a Metallica con la Sinfónica, acompañados durante parte del espectáculo por el legendario director de orquesta Michael Tilson Thomas, que así da comienzo a su última temporada en San Francisco. El concierto, que se grabará en directo el 6 y el 8 de septiembre, también celebrará la inauguración del vanguardista Chase Center, una incorporación histórica al litoral de la ciudad. Este estreno cinematográfico incluirá los «clásicos» del álbum S&M de 1999, a los que se unirán las versiones sinfónicas de nuevas canciones. Millones de fans de todo el mundo tendrán la oportunidad de viajar en el tiempo y disfrutar del espectáculo como si se tratase de un concierto contemporáneo en pantalla grande.
