Karen, psicóloga de la policía, vuelve a su hogar en Texas tratando de olvidar la muerte de cinco rehenes que no pudo evitar y pesan sobre su conciencia. Distraída tiene un accidente en la carretera y es recogida por un excéntrico sureño llamado Frank, que viaja con Rayanne, su mujer.
