Jovana works behind the counter at a bakery in the small town where she lives with her father. Her somewhat shy peer Marko is supposed to follow in his own father’s footsteps and become a truck driver. But the events of one night change both their lives… Serbian director Stefan Malešević debuts with a formally distinctive triptych whose loose narrative structure challenges the viewer to actively participate in putting together the pieces of the mosaic.
Lowdown
In the center of Podgorica, under the bridge on river Moraca, the corpse is found. Quickly we learn that it is well known member of a criminal organization.
The Ascent
Jovan has just graduated from literature and struggles to finish his first novel. He decides to go to his friend's country estate in order to dedicate himself to writing in peace. At the estate, which is situated in obscured mountain's landscape, live farmers - one very strange family which doesn't have contact with civilization. They are illiterate, they live in unclearly defined sexual relations and they are devoted to nature. Zeko, head of the family, is sadist authority whose word, will and unique world-view can't be challenged by family members. Jovan slowly gets used to life with them, and decides to stay with them a little longer. But, it's not on him to decide how much longer.
