En la pelicula, Isabelle es una niña de nueve años que estudia ballet en una escuela muy prestigiosa. Un día llega a la escuela una de las mejores bailarinas del mundo y cuando ve a Isabelle la anima para que vaya a hacer una audición con ella. Isabelle se ilusiona, pues parece que una bailarina de prestigio ha visto algo en ella. Sin embargo, la ilusión ni dura nada, pues a la audición va una compañera de la escuela de baile que para poner nerviosa a Isabelle no hace más que señalarle los fallos, lo que hace que su confianza caiga en picado.
