Pearl is a seemingly "normal" young woman who lives a reclusive lifestyle. She struggles between her sexual desires and society's "acceptable" behavior. One day she hears a voice claiming to be Jesus talking to her through the radio. Pearl communicates with him in what appears to be waking consciousness, as well as in her dreams, and he slowly takes over her mind, manipulating and tormenting her as she is pulled between sexual desire and sexual guilt.

Taunted by visions of Mary Magdalene, who reveals the confessions of the younger nuns at the convent, the Mother Superior's mind is filled with the violent, sexual acts of her fellow sisters.
Director
The girl is assisted to her feet and has a bird's head placed on her. The girl is led to another figure who is wearing a horse's head. The bird's head is removed after the horse head and bird size each other up. The girl is the left by herself. She wanders into a fog bank and lands on the ground. She sees an angel. The angel frees her from her mortal bonds.
