Do you believe in love after death? On the eve of her 19th birthday, Mizuki (Kuriyama) doesn't have a lot to celebrate about. Her mother recently committed suicide, her stepfamily bothers her, her boyfriend has been cheating on her and her best friend has betrayed her. Hurt and disillusioned, Mizuki runs from everything and is drawn by some unknown force to a dilapidated estate. En el año 2014, Japón sufre un colapso económico mayor y los habitantes se ven obligados a emigrar a la cercana China continental. Tres niños están viviendo en una ciudad China llamada Mallepa. Los tres chicos, uno llamado Sho, otro Shinji y Toshi sobreviven por medio de pequeños robos. En un robo que salio mal, Sho encuentra a Kei, un hombre que parece ser joven pero, en realidad es un vampiro. Varios años más tarde, Sho ya tiene 20 años, entra al equipo de robo junto con Kei y Toshi. En uno de esos robos, lo hicieron en contra de una banda criminal, donde luego aparece un taiwanés llamado Son. Son ataca a la banda porque el líder violó a su hermana, Yi-Che.
